It’s Like Time Travel

Without school to worry about for the summer, I’ve been able to become more acquainted with the databases my library offers. One in particular that I found interesting was Access Newspaper Archive. I’m not sure I’d ever have a personal use for it, but I can see how a patron might find it useful for a genealogy search.

Some of these newspapers go back to the 1800s, browsing through the headlines felt like I was traveling back in time. The further back you go though, the harder it is to read, so I looked for the news in Bakersfield – because Fresno wasn’t available – on the day my mother was born, and here is what I found:

  1. Your post reminded me that my parents saved the local paper from the day I was born. I need to locate it.

    Do all libraries have this archive? I’ve been trying to research my paternal grandmother’s side of the family, but I’m having difficulty finding any information.
