application process / library school

Application process (mostly) completed.

I’m finished with the application process for library school. I checked the status of my applications online and PITT has received everything and is pending a review. Indiana has everything except a letter of recommendation.

As far as the scholarship process with the ALA, they still need my transcripts, but they have been mailed.

So now what do I do?

1. Secure a volunteer library position.
2. Attend an online information session with PITT.
3. Send resumes/cover letters for library assistant and clerk jobs.
3. Check to see if IU has received the letter of recommendation.
4. Learn as much as possible about libraries and librarianship.
5. Connect with librarians.
6. Check to see if the ALA has received my transcripts.
7. Stress out about the process.

Did I miss anything?

  1. Congrats on your progress! You’re smart to funnel all this energy into getting ready and learning all you can! πŸ™‚ Remember to keep reading for pleasure too; your brain will probably appreciate the break on occasion. Another idea: make a list of things outside of librarianship that you’d like to do before school starts (and you won’t have as much time), and do some of them too. That will help with the stress too, I bet!

  2. Evelyn,
I hope your dedicated work pays off soon! You might also want to connect some of the free sights to develop technology skills. In librarianship, they’re going to be almost more important that knowledge of books.

I don’t see your email addy on your blog. could you email me? I don’t see your email address on your blog. Thanks
